After more than 30 years playing at Clayesmore Sports Centre in Iwerne Minster, we have now moved to “SturFit” in Sturminster Newton.
SturFit is a multi-purpose sports hall off Honeymead Lane, Sturminster Newton. DT10 1EW.
We play between September and April on Wednesday nights from 7.30 to 10.00pm.
Badminton England guidance states that to run club night we will be restricted to
groups (bubbles) of a maximum of six per court, a total of 24 players per night.
The bubble can mix up amongst themselves but NOT with other bubbles for that night.
In order to organise the night we need to know numbers in advance to
group players into bubbles. To facilitate this a WhatApp group has been setup.
We ask that you advise us by the WhatApp group by midnight on Monday (prior to club night) if you wish to attending, this will allow the organisers Tuesday/Wednesday to arrange bubbles and make last minute changes if required.
New players need to email us at email@example.com with your mobile phone number and details to be added to the WhatApp group and for Track and Trace.
You will NOT be able to play if you have not booked in!
As we are grouping players before the start of the evening we need players to be able to start
on or as close to 7:30 as possible, if for example we have created a bubble of five and two of which do not
arrive until 8pm this will impact on the other members of their bubble. If you know that
you will not be able to arrive at 7:30 please let us know when booking so that we can allow for this and group
accordingly, please do arrive at the time you suggest. If players want to finish before 10pm,
this could also impact on others in the bubble so if you know that you can’t stay for the session please
let us know when confirming your attendance.
Please DO NOT cancel at the last minute as this will impact on the other players in you bubble!
SturFit are keeping the front door closed and only opening five minutes before the start of a session.
At the start of the evening we will allocate a court and a tube of shuttles.
The shuttles should be kept on that court and no others, please refrain from touching shuttles from other
There will be hand sanitiser available so please use, especially before or after handling items like the net.
Keep to your bubble and if sitting off please keep the appropriate distance (2m) from other bubbles.
Showers and changing facilities are closed so please come ready to play and go home sweaty.
We appreciate that this guidance is quite draconian but we want to start from a strict standpoint and then adapt as guidance is relaxed or if we feel is appropriate under our own risk assessments. The first evening will be a test run and we welcome any feedback.
Stay alert, control the virus, save lives!
Enjoy your game.
